Hantec Markets is the retail CFD arm of the Hong Kong-founded Hantec Group, a business whose roots go back to 1990. The Hantec Markets brand itself launched in 2009 with an office in London, and today its international website, hmarkets.com, offers MetaTrader 4 trading from a $10 starting deposit, spreads advertised from 0.1 pips and leverage of up to 1:500. Our verdict: it is a credible, established group, but most traders outside the UK will be onboarded by an offshore Mauritius-licensed entity, not by the FCA-authorised UK company, and that difference matters more than any headline spread.

Regulation and safety

Hantec is a good example of why the brand name on a broker’s website tells you little about your actual protection. The privacy policy on hmarkets.com names Hantec Markets Limited, company number 127483 C1/GBL, registered at The Catalyst, Silicon Avenue, Ebène, Mauritius, as the data controller, and states that this company is authorised as an Investment Dealer by the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius under licence C114013940. The site’s regulatory page repeats the same licence number. We could not open the FSC’s online register for this entity during our check, so the licence number is confirmed from Hantec’s own legal documents rather than the regulator’s database.

There is also a UK company called Hantec Markets Limited (Companies House 06819047, 93 Gloucester Place, London). FCA Register data we reviewed show it as an authorised firm with permissions to deal as principal and agent and to arrange deals in investments. The Hantec Group’s own corporate page lists further subsidiaries, including entities in Jordan, Vanuatu and Seychelles, and the FSA Seychelles capital-markets register lists Hantec (Seychelles) Services Limited among its capital-markets firms.

What this means in practice:

  • If you open an account through the international site, you are most likely a client of the Mauritius entity. FSC Mauritius is an offshore regulator: it allows high leverage and does not offer the compensation scheme that UK clients get through the FCA framework.
  • The UK company is the only top-tier licence in the picture we could confirm. Ask Hantec in writing which entity will hold your account before you deposit.
  • Hantec says client money is kept in segregated accounts and that negative balance protection applies, so losses should not exceed your deposited funds.
  • The risk warning on hmarkets.com states that 61% of retail investor accounts lose money trading CFDs with the provider.

Fees and spreads

Hantec advertises spreads starting from 0.1 pips and a $10 entry point. The international site names several account options, such as Hantec Global, Hantec Pro and a cent account, and an independent review updated in October 2026 maps the pricing: the Global account is commission-free with EUR/USD from about 0.6 pips, the Pro account starts at 0.1 pips with a commission from $2 per lot, and the cent account starts around 2.2 pips. Hantec deals as principal, meaning it is the execution venue and adds a mark-up to the prices it receives from liquidity providers, so treat it as a market-maker model rather than true ECN. Treat “from 0.1 pips” as a best case on major pairs during liquid hours.

Accounts and markets

Hantec describes a catalogue of more than 2,650 CFD instruments. That covers over 50 currency pairs, global indices, oil and other commodities, gold and silver, popular US shares and cryptocurrency CFDs. Live, joint and corporate accounts are available, and a demo account lets you test the platform without risking money. The group has also pushed into pairs trading on stocks and indices and has publicly reported record quarterly trading volume of $725.5 billion in Q3 2025, a sign of a sizeable client base.

The international site mentions an affiliated proprietary-trading business, Hantec Trader, which is a separate service and does not accept US clients. Do not confuse funded-trader programmes with a regular brokerage account.

Platforms and tools

MetaTrader 4 is the core platform, available on Windows, Mac and mobile. It is a mature choice with Expert Advisors, custom indicators and a large community, but traders who want MetaTrader 5, cTrader or TradingView integration will not find them advertised on the international site. Hantec also offers a client portal for funding and account management and promotes Hantec Social, a copy-trading service.

Deposits and withdrawals

Hantec accepts bank or wire transfers and cards, with extra local payment options depending on your region. It does not charge its own deposit or withdrawal fees, although payment providers may, and a 0.6% conversion fee applies if you fund in a currency other than your account’s base currency (USD, EUR, GBP or NGN). Confirm the available methods for your country inside the client portal, and expect identity checks before your first withdrawal.

Who Hantec Markets suits

  • Suits: MT4 traders who value a long-established group, want a low entry deposit and are comfortable with an offshore licence.
  • Suits: traders interested in a broad CFD list, including stock pairs trading.
  • Avoid if: you need top-tier regulation for your own account, prefer MT5/cTrader, or want transparent, published commission schedules.

Final verdict

Hantec Markets brings a long group history, a low minimum deposit and a large CFD range. The weak points are transparency and jurisdiction: international clients are served from Mauritius, and fee details beyond the headline spread are hard to pin down. It can work for MT4 traders who understand that trade-off, but check which entity you are signing with. CFDs are leveraged products and most retail accounts lose money.
