Crypto.com Exchange is the order-book trading venue of the Singapore-headquartered Crypto.com group, which started life in Hong Kong in 2016 under the name Monaco and rebranded in 2018. CoinGecko ranks the Exchange ninth by Trust Score (9/10) as of 8 November 2026, listing 364 coins and 507 pairs. Our verdict: it is one of the better-regulated large exchanges, with a MiCA authorisation for Europe and a MAS licence in Singapore, but its headline low fees are reserved for VIP traders, and retail users should look closely at what they will actually pay.

Regulation and safety

Crypto.com operates through several local companies, so the protection you get depends on which one opens your account. In the European Economic Area the relevant firm is Foris DAX MT Limited. Malta’s Financial Services Authority (MFSA) authorised it under the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) on 27 January 2025, and the licence was passported across the EEA from 12 February 2025. According to the company, the authorisation covers exchange of crypto for funds and for other crypto, order execution and transmission, transfers, and custody. The firm also appears in ESMA-derived MiCA register listings under LEI 2549005CVR5HH70FDO07.

In Singapore, Foris DAX Asia Pte. Ltd. holds a Major Payment Institution licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for digital payment token services. Crypto.com also says it holds a UK e-money licence from the FCA, a VARA licence in Dubai, US money transmitter licences, CFTC-regulated exchange and clearing licences in the US, and an Australian Financial Services Licence. We could not open every one of those registers in this session, so check the relevant register for your country before relying on a specific licence.

Regulatory history matters too. In January 2022 hackers took roughly $34 million in bitcoin and ether from 483 customer accounts; Crypto.com said everyone affected was repaid in full. In October 2024 the company sued the US SEC after receiving a Wells notice, and the SEC closed its investigation in 2025. After the FTX collapse, Crypto.com published a proof-of-reserves report prepared by Mazars, based on a 7 December 2022 snapshot, covering BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT and several other tokens, with a Merkle tree so customers could check their balances. It was a useful check at the time, but it is now nearly four years old.

Remember that a licence does not remove market risk. Crypto prices are volatile, and coins held on any exchange are exposed to custody, hacking and insolvency risk. Large balances you don’t trade are usually safer in a wallet you control.

Trading fees

Crypto.com Exchange uses a VIP programme. You reach VIP 1 by trading at least $1 million in spot or $6 million in derivatives over 30 days, or by holding at least 1.5 million CRO. The rates below are from Crypto.com’s VIP programme page as of November 2026.

TierSpot makerSpot takerDerivs makerDerivs taker
VIP 10.065%0.10%0.008%0.028%
VIP 20%0.05%0%0.026%
VIP 40%0.035%0%0.022%
VIP 7 (invite)0%0.025%0%0.015%

The key catch for ordinary traders is that the help page mentions a non-VIP tier but doesn’t publish its rates. CoinGecko lists the Exchange’s overall fee range as 0.02% to 0.16%, which suggests non-VIP users pay more than the VIP 1 figures. Look at the fee shown on your own account before you place large orders. Deposits are free according to CoinGecko, while withdrawal fees vary by coin and network.

Products and markets

Spot trading covers more than 360 coins, which makes it one of the broader catalogues among licensed exchanges. Crypto.com’s derivatives announcement says the Exchange app offers perpetuals and futures with up to 20x leverage, for users who complete Advanced verification and do not live in an excluded jurisdiction. In the US the group runs separately regulated products; on 27 October 2026 it began offering CFTC-regulated crypto perpetuals to eligible US customers through partner OG.com, with leverage capped at 5x. CoinGecko lists margin trading as not offered on the spot market.

Leveraged products can wipe out your margin quickly, and funding payments on perpetuals add to the cost of holding a position. If you are new to crypto, start with spot trading in small amounts.

Platforms and tools

The Exchange runs in a web browser and in a dedicated Exchange mobile app, separate from the consumer Crypto.com App, which sells crypto at quoted prices. Active traders get a full order book, charting and API access. If you only want to buy and hold, the consumer app is easier but usually more expensive per trade than placing limit orders on the Exchange.

Deposits and withdrawals

CoinGecko lists fiat funding in USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, BRL and TRY by bank transfer and debit or credit card. Which rails you can use depends on your country and the local entity. Crypto deposits are free; crypto withdrawals carry a network-dependent fee shown at the time of withdrawal. Crypto.com does not publish a single minimum deposit figure for the Exchange.

Availability

Crypto.com’s help centre lists dozens of places where the consumer App is not available, including mainland China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Venezuela, occupied regions of Ukraine and the US state of New York. Derivatives have their own, separate list of excluded jurisdictions. Check availability for your exact country and product before you sign up.

Who it suits and who should avoid it

  • Suits: EU and Singapore residents who want a licensed venue with a wide coin list; higher-volume traders who can reach VIP tiers; users who already hold CRO.
  • Think twice: small-account traders who will pay non-VIP rates; anyone who wants high leverage (capped at 20x, or lower in some regions); residents of restricted countries.

Final verdict

Crypto.com Exchange combines a large market with real licences: MiCA through Malta and a MAS licence in Singapore. It handled its 2022 security breach by reimbursing users, and it has published a third-party proof of reserves, though not recently. Fees are competitive once you reach VIP status but less transparent below it. For a regulated, mainstream exchange it is a solid choice. Confirm which Crypto.com entity will hold your account, and never trade with money you cannot afford to lose.
