Bitunix is a derivatives-led crypto exchange founded in 2021. It has grown quickly: CoinGecko ranks it eleventh by Trust Score (9/10) on 8 November 2026, with 495 spot pairs listed and more than 1,000 perpetual markets claimed by the exchange. Our verdict: Bitunix offers low futures fees, a long list of contracts and regular proof-of-reserves snapshots, but it is an offshore exchange with no recognised financial licence. That makes it a high-risk venue suited only to experienced traders who understand what that means.

Regulation and safety

Bitunix does not hold a licence from a top-tier regulator such as the FCA, BaFin, MAS, the SFC or a MiCA authority. Even its place of incorporation is reported inconsistently: CoinGecko’s exchange profile lists Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, while a sponsored CoinGecko Learn article describes it as registered in Seychelles. CoinMarketCap also lists Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and one directory gives Dubai as its base; Bitunix itself does not publish a head-office address. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Seychelles are both offshore jurisdictions with light oversight of crypto trading.

What Bitunix does have is a set of anti-money-laundering registrations. Reports in January 2026 said it had registered with Australia’s AUSTRAC as a digital currency exchange and remittance dealer, effective 8 January 2026, and CoinGecko lists an Australian VASP registration. Bitunix also cites US FinCEN and Canadian FINTRAC money services business registrations, plus other registrations in South Africa, Mauritius and El Salvador. These registrations mainly require customer checks and suspicious-activity reporting. They do not impose capital, segregation or compensation rules, and the US and Canadian registrations do not allow Bitunix to serve retail traders in those countries. We could not open the regulators’ registers in this session, so verify any registration yourself before relying on it.

On the positive side, Bitunix publishes Merkle-tree proof of reserves. Its April 2026 update reported reserve ratios of 101% for BTC, 104% for ETH and 108% for USDT. A sponsored October 2026 CoinGecko article cites a snapshot showing BTC 156%, ETH 108% and USDT 105%, together with a $50 million USDC protection fund and ISO/IEC 27001 certification. Bitunix publishes these figures itself; they are not an audit of its liabilities. CoinGecko records no security incidents for the exchange.

Trading fees

We could not reach Bitunix’s own fee page in this session. The rates below come from CoinGecko’s Learn article (updated October 2026) and match a June 2026 fee breakdown that cites the official schedule. They apply as of November 2026.

MarketMakerTakerTop VIP
Spot0.08%0.10%up to 0.0325%
Futures0.02%0.06%up to 0.03%; 0% maker possible at VIP 8

A 0.06% taker fee on futures is in line with large offshore derivatives venues, and the 0.02% maker fee rewards limit orders. Futures fees are charged on the full notional size of a position, not on your margin. On a $10,000 position opened with $100 at 100x leverage, a single taker fill costs about $6, or 6% of your margin. Funding payments come on top of that. Withdrawal fees vary by coin and network.

Products

Bitunix offers spot trading with a convert tool and recurring buys, USDT-, USDC- and coin-margined perpetuals, copy trading, futures grid bots, earn products, P2P and fiat on-ramps. TradFi-style contracts are offered where available. Leverage goes up to 200x on eligible perpetuals, depending on your jurisdiction. At that level a move of about 0.5% against you can wipe out your margin, so most traders should use far lower settings.

Accounts, KYC and funding

Bitunix says identity verification and AML checks apply to withdrawals, higher limits and fiat services, as required in each region. CoinGecko lists euro funding by bank deposit, debit or credit card, and Apple Pay, and Bitunix also runs a P2P marketplace. The exchange does not publish a minimum deposit. With P2P, keep all communication and payment inside the platform’s escrow.

Restricted countries

Bitunix publishes a restricted-regions notice on its support site. A secondary summary of that notice lists the United States and its territories, Canada, mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, North Korea, Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, South Sudan, Libya, the Central African Republic, the DR Congo, Guinea-Bissau, Somalia, France, Cuba, Haiti, and the occupied regions of Ukraine. We could not open the notice itself, so check the current version before signing up. Accessing Bitunix from a restricted location can lead to account closure.

Who it suits and who should avoid it

  • Suits: experienced futures traders in permitted countries who want low fees, many perpetual markets and copy trading, and who accept offshore counterparty risk.
  • Avoid if: you want a licensed custodian, you live in a restricted country, you are a beginner, or you plan to hold long-term savings on an exchange.

Final verdict

Bitunix has grown quickly on the back of low derivatives fees, a large contract list and visible proof-of-reserves updates, and it carries a 9/10 CoinGecko Trust Score. None of that replaces regulation. It has no top-tier licence, its incorporation details are inconsistent, and its registrations are AML-only. If you use it, keep balances small, withdraw profits regularly, and treat leverage as a tool that can lose you money very quickly.

FAQ

Is Bitunix regulated?

Bitunix holds no top-tier licence. It reports anti-money-laundering registrations such as AUSTRAC in Australia and MSB registrations with FinCEN (US) and FINTRAC (Canada). These are not trading licences and do not let it serve US or Canadian retail clients.

What are Bitunix trading fees?

As of November 2026 the base tier is reported at 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker for spot, and 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker for futures, with lower rates for VIP tiers. Confirm on Bitunix’s fee page before trading.

Does Bitunix require KYC?

Identity verification applies to withdrawals, higher limits and fiat services, depending on local rules. Expect to complete KYC before you can move meaningful amounts.

Does Bitunix publish proof of reserves?

Yes. It publishes Merkle-tree reserve snapshots; the April 2026 update showed BTC 101%, ETH 104% and USDT 108%. These are self-published snapshots, not a full financial audit.

Which countries are restricted on Bitunix?

Reported restrictions include the United States, Canada, mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, the UAE, France, sanctioned countries and occupied regions of Ukraine. Check Bitunix’s restricted regions notice for the current list.
