Headway is a young forex and CFD brand that launched worldwide in 2023 and markets itself to beginners with small-deposit accounts and a mobile app. The key fact for anyone considering it is regulatory. We could not verify a financial licence for any Headway company, and Malaysia’s Securities Commission has flagged it as an unlicensed entity. Headway’s own website could not be loaded for this review, so its trading conditions below come from independent reviews published in 2025 and 2026: a minimum deposit from $1, spreads from 0.0 pips on the Pro account and leverage described as unlimited. Our verdict: approach with caution. Headway should be treated as an unregulated, offshore-style broker.

Regulation and safety
Headway’s official Android app listing names its developer as JAROCEL (PTY) LTD, with an address at 3 Flamingo Crescent, East London, South Africa. It describes Jarocel only as “a registered entity in South Africa”. It names no financial regulator and gives no licence number. Third-party review sites claim that Jarocel holds a South African FSCA licence, numbered FSP 52108, and that a separate company, Headway Inc, serves international clients offshore. We could not confirm either claim on a regulator register or on Headway’s legal documents page, which would not load during this review. Even if a local FSCA authorisation exists, a South African intermediary licence would not normally cover the offshore company that actually holds international client accounts.
There is also a formal regulator warning. On the IOSCO I-SCAN alert network, Malaysia’s Securities Commission lists Headway (website hw.online, plus its mobile apps and social-media accounts) as an “unregistered/unlicensed entity offering financial products or services”. It says Headway is carrying on unlicensed capital-market activities, specifically dealing in securities. The entry was last updated on 6 January 2026. Residents of Malaysia should not use the service, and traders elsewhere should treat the alert as a significant red flag.
In practical terms, this means:
- no top-tier regulator supervises how client money is held;
- no statutory investor-compensation scheme applies if the company fails;
- there is no independent ombudsman you can rely on if a withdrawal is disputed;
- leverage limits and negative-balance rules are set by the company itself, not a regulator.
Accounts and fees
When Headway announced its worldwide launch in 2023, it described three accounts, Cent, Standard and Pro, with a very low minimum deposit and micro-lot (0.01) trading on the Cent account. It also promoted a no-deposit bonus to new clients at the time. These details are from the 2023 launch release and may no longer apply. Independent reviews updated in 2025 and 2026 describe the same three accounts today. The Cent account opens from $1 and the Standard account from $10; both are commission-free with spreads from 0.3 pips. The Pro account needs $100 and offers spreads from 0.0 pips plus a commission of $3 per round-turn lot. We could not check these figures on the official site, and we do not claim that any bonus is currently on offer. If you are still considering Headway, check the live trading conditions in the Personal Area and save copies of the terms you accept.
Pay particular attention to leverage. Reviewers report forex leverage of 1:2000 and even “unlimited” leverage, with lower caps such as 1:400 on crypto and 1:20 on stocks. That can wipe out an account after a very small price move, and it is no substitute for proper risk management.
Products and platforms
The official app listing describes access to more than 470 instruments, including global indices, stocks, oil and other commodities alongside currency pairs. The app offers real-time charts, one-click orders, a dashboard for monitoring open trades and exposure, tutorials, daily market commentary and an economic calendar. It also offers two-factor authentication and encryption for payment transactions. A full-featured demo account is available for practice. At launch Headway also offered MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 through its Personal Area. Confirm that these are still available if you depend on Expert Advisors.
The 2023 release also mentioned a free five-lesson course for beginners, round-the-clock support by live chat and email, and a multi-level affiliate programme. Support contact addresses on the hw.site domain are listed in the app store entry.
Deposits and withdrawals
The app listing says Headway supports several payment methods and describes withdrawals as fast. Independent reviews list cards and cryptocurrencies for all clients, with Skrill, Neteller, PayRetailers and other local methods depending on your country; fees are not clearly published. At launch the company said it offered deposits and withdrawals in local currencies through wallets kept separate from trading accounts. Without regulatory oversight, there is no external guarantee of how quickly withdrawals are processed. Start with a small deposit and test a withdrawal before committing more money.
Who Headway might suit, and who should avoid it
Might suit: people who only want to explore trading on a demo account in a simple mobile app, without depositing real money.
Should avoid: residents of Malaysia, given the Securities Commission alert. Anyone who wants their money held under a recognised regulator should also avoid it, as should beginners tempted by high leverage or bonuses, and anyone who cannot afford to lose the full deposit.
Final verdict
Headway offers an accessible app, a demo account and a broad instrument list. However, we could not verify any financial licence, and a national securities regulator has publicly listed it as unlicensed. Combined with the fact that its trading conditions could only be checked through third-party reviews, this places Headway at the high-risk end of the market. If you want leveraged forex or CFD trading, a broker regulated by a top-tier authority offers far stronger protection. Leveraged trading carries a high risk of losing money quickly.

FAQ
Is Headway a regulated broker?

The official app listing describes its developer, Jarocel (Pty) Ltd, only as a registered company in South Africa and names no financial regulator, so treat Headway as unregulated.

Yes. Malaysia’s Securities Commission lists Headway (hw.online) on the IOSCO I-SCAN alert network as an unlicensed entity dealing in securities, with the entry last updated on 6 January 2026.
Does Headway have a demo account?
Yes. The official Headway mobile app listing says a full-featured demo account is available.
What can I trade with Headway?
The official app listing mentions access to more than 470 instruments, including global indices, stocks, oil and other commodities, alongside forex.
When did Headway launch?
