XTB is one of the few publicly listed retail brokers in Central Europe. Jakub Zabłocki founded it in Warsaw in 2002 as X-Trade Brokers, and its shares have traded on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2016. Over the past few years XTB has grown from a CFD house into a wider investing app. The group passed 2 million clients in 2025 and now promotes commission-free real stocks and ETFs, interest on cash and investment plans next to its forex and CFD trading. Our XTB review covers the broker as of November 2026. Its main strengths are top-tier licences in the UK, EU and Dubai, no minimum deposit and the in-house xStation 5 platform. The trade-offs are no MetaTrader support, fixed spread-only forex pricing and a record of regulatory fines in Poland that you should know about.

Regulation and safety
XTB’s companies operate under several regulators. Which one covers you depends on where you live:
- XTB S.A.: the Warsaw parent company, supervised by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF). It has held a brokerage licence since 2005.
- XTB Limited (UK): authorised by the FCA under FRN 522157, with UK company number 07227848. Eligible clients are covered by the FSCS.
- XTB Limited (Cyprus): a CySEC investment firm under licence 169/12. In 2025 it was also authorised under MiCA to offer spot crypto.
- XTB Sucursal en España: the Spanish branch, regulated by the CNMV.
- XTB MENA: licensed by the Dubai Financial Services Authority since 2021.
- XTB International Limited: registered in Belize and authorised by the FSC of Belize (No. 6442514). This company serves clients outside XTB’s top-tier regions and offers leverage of up to 1:500.
The Belize entity is offshore and has no statutory compensation scheme. If you sign up through xtb.com/int, you do not get the protection of the FCA or CySEC companies. XTB’s history also includes several regulatory actions. Poland’s KNF fined the firm PLN 9.9 million in 2018 over asymmetric price slippage, a fine upheld by the Supreme Administrative Court in 2023. France’s AMF fined it EUR 300,000 in 2021. In April 2026 the KNF imposed a further PLN 20 million fine over MiFID II investor-protection breaches linked to CFDs. As a listed company XTB publishes audited accounts, but these cases show why a licence on its own does not guarantee good conduct.
The risk warnings are high: 78% of retail CFD accounts lose money at the UK entity and 79% at the Cyprus entity. Most beginners should treat leveraged forex as a way to lose money quickly, not a source of income.
XTB fees and spreads
XTB keeps pricing simple. CFDs, including forex, carry no commission, and the cost sits in the spread. XTB’s own forex page gives a minimum EUR/USD spread of 0.8 pips. That is fair for a commission-free account but wider than raw-spread ECN brokers once you add their commissions. There is no raw-spread account.
| Fee | XTB (as of November 2026) |
|---|---|
| EUR/USD spread | From 0.8 pips |
| Forex / CFD commission | 0% |
| Real stocks and ETFs | 0% up to EUR 100,000 monthly turnover, then 0.2% (min EUR 10) |
| Currency conversion | 0.5% |
| Deposits | Free from XTB; Skrill 2%, Neteller 1% |
| Withdrawals | Free from USD 50; USD 30 below that (XTB International) |
The 0.5% currency conversion fee is easy to miss. If your account is in EUR and you buy US shares, you pay it on the way in and again on the way out. Independent reviews also report an inactivity fee for accounts left unused for a long period, so check XTB’s current table of fees and charges.
Accounts and products
XTB has no tiered account system. Clients open one standard account, and XTB International also offers a swap-free Islamic account to residents of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Malaysia. XTB states that UK/EU residents cannot open an Islamic account. The UK site lists about 12,000 instruments, including:
- 60+ CFD currency pairs
- index, commodity and share CFDs
- real stocks and ETFs from USD 10 per order
- crypto (CFDs or spot, depending on the entity)
In some regions there are also investment plans and interest on uninvested cash. Professional status brings higher leverage for qualifying UK/EU clients, and a free demo account is available.
Platforms and tools
XTB dropped MetaTrader and now puts everything into xStation 5. It launched in 2016 and runs in a browser, on desktop and in the XTB mobile app. The same login covers CFDs as well as real stocks and ETFs, and CFD orders start at 0.01 lots. Customer service is offered in 18 languages on weekdays. For traders who rely on Expert Advisors or MT4 indicators this is a deal-breaker. For investors who want one app for CFDs, stocks and ETFs, it is a strength. XTB does not offer a TradingView feed or integration, so TradingView users will need another broker.
Deposits and withdrawals
XTB International accepts bank cards, bank transfers and online payment methods including Skrill and Neteller. XTB does not charge for deposits, but Skrill and Neteller add fees of 2% and 1%. Withdrawals of USD 50 or more are free. Requests submitted after the daily cut-off are processed on the next business day. Independent reviews also list PayPal and other local methods for European accounts, and these vary by country.
Who XTB suits
Good fit: beginners and mixed investors in Europe or the UK who want a listed, FCA/CySEC-regulated broker with no minimum deposit and a single, easy app for stocks, ETFs and CFDs. Swap-free traders in eligible Middle East and North African countries also have an option here.
Less suitable: scalpers who want raw spreads plus commission, traders who depend on MT4, MT5 or TradingView, and anyone outside Europe who wants top-tier protection, since they would be served by the Belize company.
Final verdict
To conclude our XTB review: the broker combines strong European regulation, a stock-exchange listing and a well-made in-house platform with no minimum deposit and commission-free CFDs. Its forex pricing is average at 0.8 pips on EUR/USD, there is no MetaTrader, and its fines from Polish and French regulators deserve attention. XTB scores 4.1 out of 5 overall.
